Mahindra Scorpio N Z4 AT Launch in INDIA: Priced at Rs 17.39, Specs, Features Explained

Mahindra Scorpio N Z4 AT: Mahindra has enhanced the Scorpio N range by introducing automatic transmission with the Z4 variant priced at ₹17.39 lakh for petrol and ₹17.86 lakh for diesel. The Z4 variant is price-pointed just above the base Z2 trim and is therefore a more feasible and cost-effective proposition for buyers looking for automatic shifts in a 7-seater SUV. This development will enable Mahindra to address a more extensive audience without pushing potential buyers to the higher-priced premium trims.

Mahindra has progressively updated Scorpio N over the last year to keep it competitive and desirable with consumers. In July 2024, Mahindra increased the model's desirability by adding new features that included ventilated seats and an auto-dimming rearview mirror to select variants. The company also launched a special Carbon Edition variant price-pointed at ₹19.19 lakh. The latest enhancement to the Z4 trim will enable buyers to order petrol and diesel engine options in combination with automatic gearboxes — a much-appreciated addition for city and highway users.

Mahindra Scorpio N Z4 AT Specs and Features Full Information

The Scorpio N Z4 AT now introduces five powertrain options: Petrol MT, Petrol AT, Diesel 2WD MT, Diesel 2WD AT and Diesel 4WD MT. The Diesel 4WD AT variant is still reserved for the higher trims of Z8 and Z8L. Until this point, if customers wanted an automatic transmission option, they had to go with the Z6 trim for diesel (priced at ₹18.91 lakh) or Z8 Select trim for petrol (priced at ₹19.06 lakh). The Z4 AT helps customers save as much as ₹1.67 lakh on the petrol and ₹1.05 lakh on the diesel engine, making it a very value-oriented option.

The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine in the Scorpio N puts out 200 hp. With the manual gearbox, it makes 370 Nm of torque and slightly more — 380 Nm — with the automatic. The 2.2-litre diesel engine can reach 172 hp and 400 Nm of torque with the automatic, depending on tune, or can be offered as a lower-spec that gives 130 hp and 300 Nm. We can see that the engines are offered with either the 6-speed manual transmission or the 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Both of which give choices to many different drivers.

Aesthetically, the Scorpio N Z4 is true to Mahindra’s signature SUV designs. Classy dual-beam halogen reflector headlights, practical skid plates, and 17-inch steel wheels with covers give a distinctive bold look. It features a black-finished sky rack that enhances the vehicle’s sporty characteristics and has integrated LED turn signals on the ORVMs to improve practicality. The rear displays vertically stacked LED tail lamps and a small spoiler for a solid and seemingly vertical posture for the SUV.

In the cabin, the Z4 trim gets all the absolute necessary functions to augment comfort and practicality. The Z4 variant features a tilt-adjustable power steering, engine start/stop button, second-row AC vents for backseat passengers, and a touchscreen infotainment system with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features that build out the car’s functionality are steering-mounted controls, cruise control, USB charging ports, and electrically adjustable ORVMs. The seating features methodology was good planning given they offer a one-touch tumble for second row (left side) and fold-and-tumble for third row. Also, the Z4 trim gets overall power windows, a roof lamp for both rows, rear wiper, washer, and demister features to add more functionality for daily use.

As for safety, Mahindra has not made compromises. The Z4 variant is equipped with dual front airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), ABS with EBD, hill hold and descent control, and rear parking sensors. It has ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and three-point seatbelts for all seats, with reminders and pretensioners for the front occupants.

However, some premium features are only available on higher trims. These features include ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, the Sony premium audio system, Amazon Alexa, Adrenox connected car technology, and a sunroof. The Z4 also lacks features like the auto-dimming IRVM, driver drowsiness alert, and tyre pressure monitoring system as well.
